Is linguistic diversity a design problem? Yes, of course it is. A complex and potentially transformative one. Art and design schools are places where difference is a raw material, where linguistic, cultural, and neurodiversity can thrive. But this doesn’t happen automatically, not for everyone, and so much depends on the ways learning and communication are scaffolded in and out of the classroom or studio.
